Toyota Hilux Champ Mobile Hotel

Cars – The Toyota Hilux Champ is known for its simple character as much as it is for its versatile nature, making it a great fit for modification. Thailand-based company Carryboy has completely converted the truck version into a motorhome specification for camping enthusiasts who want a mobile hotel room in the back of their truck.

The motorhome was showcased at the Hilux Champ launch in Thailand last year and is now on sale. It’s based on the long-wheelbase double-cab version of the vehicle, ensuring more interior space. The motorhome can sleep up to six people, although it seems more suitable for a family of four. The rear deck houses a comfortable living area, and an upper sleeping area with a skylight.

At the back, there’s a small bathroom with a toilet and a hot shower, thanks to a 100-litre freshwater tank. Amenities include a dining table, hidden LED lighting, plenty of storage, window blinds, an 80-litre fridge, kitchen appliances, a sink, a 32-inch TV and an air conditioning unit. On the outside, the company has added electric side steps for easy access inside, an electric awning and an optional slide-out kitchen.

The car’s standard battery capacity is 9,600 Wh, but it can be upgraded to 19,200 Wh or 28,800 Wh for those who want to stay off the grid for longer. What’s more, a solar roof can extend battery life on sunny days.

There’s a 2.4-litre diesel engine, producing 148 hp and 343 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an automatic transmission, as is the case with all Hilux Champ variants currently available in Thailand. Carryboy offers the option of upgrading the suspension with new shock absorbers, which increases the truck’s ground clearance.

The modified truck is priced between $58,500 and $70,000 depending on options. This is expected to be significantly more expensive than the standard version of the truck, which starts at $13,500 in Thailand.

Carryboy has also added some luxury features to the motorhome, including a leather interior, a premium sound system, and a satellite navigation system. The company also offers a range of accessories, such as a rooftop tent, a portable BBQ, and a camping table.

The Toyota Hilux Champ Motorhome is a unique offering in the market, and it’s sure to appeal to those who want a comfortable and convenient way to explore the great outdoors.
