The Iranian national team overcame a goal deficit against its Qatari counterpart to a thrilling 4-1 victory today, Tuesday, in the fourth round of the first group matches of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup in America, Canada, and Mexico.

At Maktoum Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Stadium, Al-Muez Ali Abdullah, the Al-Duhail striker, led the way with a goal for Al-Anabi of Qatar in the 17th minute. However, Sardar Azmoun, the UAE-based Shabab Al-Ahly striker, equalized for Iran three minutes before the end of the first half.

Three minutes after the start of the second half, Azmoun scored the second goal for him and his country, then Mohamed Mohibi scored the third goal in the 66th minute. Mohibi returned and scored his second goal and the fourth for Iran in stoppage time.
