Neymar is absent from Brazil in the last two World Cup qualifiers

The absence of striker Neymar from the Brazil squad in the last two games for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Bolivia, extending his absence from the national team to nearly two years.

Coach Carlo Ancelotti attributed the exclusion of Santos star from his 23 players, which he announced today, Monday, to a slight injury to the leg muscle suffered a few days ago.

Brazil has already resolved its qualification to the 2026 World Cup.

The former Barcelona and Paris Saint -Germain striker has not participated in the national team’s shirt since October 2023, when he suffered a serious knee injury that hindered his return to the stadiums.

“Neymar was slightly injured last week. The two matches are the last two qualifiers and will require a lot, so we need players at their best to be able to perform at the highest level,” Ancelotti said at a press conference today.

The Italian coach, who previously spoke of his commitment to preparing Neymar for the 2026 World Cup, preferred to be careful about the fitness of the 33 -year -old.

“We do not need to evaluate Neymar,” Ancelotti said. “

Nimar, since his return to his childhood club Santos from Saudi Arabia, showed glimpses of his usual level, and scored six goals and six assists in 19 games this season.

However, his influential exit after Santos’s overwhelming defeat 6-0 against Vasco last Sunday, and his crying, highlighting the challenges he still faces.

The team included a mixture of prominent stars such as Alison, Markinus and Cassimero, along with young talents, including talented Chelsea player Estavo and the return of West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta, as Brazil looks forward to a good end for her qualifying career.
