Yesterday evening, the first stage of the global “Wbc Boxing Grand Prix” boxing championship, which was hosted by the Bolivard City region in the capital Riyadh for four consecutive days, was concluded, amid a remarkable public presence and a wide media interaction, and with the participation of 128 boxers from more than 40 countries around the world.
The first stage witnessed the establishment of 64 battalions on the “Super Globe” theater, during which the boxers competed within the four approved categories: the weight of the feather, the super light weight, the medium weight, and the heavyweight, in a highly organized professional atmosphere, within the framework of the defeated exit qualifications approved by the World Boxing Council (WBC).
64 boxers succeeded in reserving their seats for the next stage of the championship that will be held in the capital Riyadh during the period from 20 to 22 June, and includes 32 battles through which the identity of those who qualified to the advanced stages is determined.
The championship organized by the World Boxing Council in partnership with the Riyadh season comes within an ambitious project aimed at discovering the new generation of boxing stars worldwide, and raising the quality of competitions under one of the oldest international bodies.
The success of the first stage is a sign of the great potential that the Kingdom possesses in organizing global events, as it reflects the increasing international attendance of boxing in Saudi Arabia, which has become a major destination for major championships and a theater to shine the most prominent emerging talents.
It is expected that the competitions will continue in the next August and October, all the way to the great closing event that takes place on December 20, 2025, during which the capital, Riyadh, crowned the world champions in the championship, in four final remnants determining the winners of the title “WBC GRAND Prix” for each category.
